How I became one of 20 mommy bloggers to follow into 2020
I got talked into being a mommy blogger by a friend (you know who you are). When I started I never dreamed where I would be now. I am floored by the community I’ve met and the community that grows around Fort Birthday. And privileged to be part of this list.
But for real look at this list of 20 mommy blogs to follow into 2020. Some of my #goals are there. Great photographers making art. Honest moms who are sharing some of our worst fears and anxieties to let us know we aren’t alone. The creativity and passion in the list. What can I say. There is vision there, and I’m not sure I match it.

Mommy Blogging is inviting everyone in to take a look at the hot mess
There is this weird moment for mommy bloggers. We are all just trying to share the things we’ve learned along the way. Because we hope that some nugget we throw out into the universe brightens someone’s day, lightens their load, or unintentionally rhymes in an awkward way. Cause that’s so me. The weird part is that you have to promote yourself.
I’m pretty sure that all the mommy bloggers I’ve met (with a couple exceptions) are actually introverts. So reaching out to their people and saying, “Hey, look at this super cool thing I MADE.” is hard. That’s why it’s so nice when someone else gives you a shout out.
Who are the mommy blogger s you love?
You know they are people. People who would love to hear from you. Shoot them a comment. Like their IG or retweet them. It’s one of the ways Mommy blogger s connect with our audience.

In the end. We all just want one thing (ok, or WAY more than one thing, but mostly one thing). We want to feel valued for the job that we are doing as a mom, a parent. I feel valued in that when I can share my experiences as a NICU grad mom, or as a twin mom with other moms experiencing the same thing.
I would have accepted cash as well
Being a SAHM is on the thankless side of things. The working moms know this too. Heck, being a parent in general, is filled with ungrateful days. Days that are so exhausting you really should have a medal to show for it at the end. And I’m lucky enough to have this to show for it. Being one of 20 moms to follow in 2020.
Also, apropos of nothing. If you haven’t watched Crazy Stupid Love, make it a point. I thought my husband was bonkers for suggesting it on his birthday. For real, he could have picked anything. And now I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Kinda like I feel when I get the time to sit down and share some of my real thoughts with you. Anyways, in the words of the woman who talked me into this whole mess, it is Charming and Endearing. It is.
Happy Wednesday, all y’all. Happy Birthday, Dear, 25 years of birthdays together. Man, we are old now. – Leah
