Backyard Chickens: Taking Over

You may have noticed, by my instagram is going all chickens for the next week or so. I loved and miss my Backyard Chickens. Keep your eyes peeled for more information about keeping backyard birds.

My favorite resource is My Pet Chicken check them out and daydream about fresh eggs and feathered friends.

Watching my hens work their way through the yard provided no end of entertainment and delight for me. I never seemed to stop being surprised and excited when I looked out my window and saw them scratching away. Backyard Chickens are the best.

My little sister called my hens the Bougie Bitches because they lived the good life in town. I was surprised at how much personality certain birds had. Some birds were forgettable. But some hens made an impression. My oldest bird lived more than 7 years. Due to deaths of a number of hens she ended up as a solo bird for a few months.

Chickens are flock animals. They want and need company. So she decided to start hanging out with my socially maladjusted doxie. They were quite a pair.
